Resist Vietnam border guards asking for ‘tips’

Recently, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam received a report from Chinese citizens who were asked for “tips” by Vietnamese port staff when entering Vietnam. Our pavilion attaches great importance to this and has lodged solemn representations with the relevant departments of the Vietnamese side, urging the Vietnamese side to take effective measures to strengthen the investigation and punishment of illegal acts, and resolutely put an end to public officials at ports receiving “tips” in any form. The Chinese Embassy will continue to closely follow relevant developments and resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens.

The Chinese Embassy in Vietnam once again reminds Chinese citizens that the Vietnamese government clearly prohibits public officials at ports from collecting “tips”, and foreign citizens are not required to pay “tips” to local public officials when entering or leaving Vietnam through air or land ports.
